By discipline to attain to temporary (sa) nirvāṇa in contrast with [lang id =1028]橫超 happy salvation to Amitābha's paradise through trust in him.

淨土門易行道中有橫超與橫出的二道， 聞悉如來的本願而不疑， 憑此堅強的信念就會得到往生的益處， 死後直接往生於真實的報土， 叫做橫超， 若是單憑自己的力量而修定散之諸行， 將來死後往生於方便的化土， 叫做橫出。
